چکیده

We report the initial results for femtosecond electromagnetic soliton propagation and collision obtained from first principles, i.e., by a direct time integration of Maxwell's equations. The time integration efficiently implements linear and nonlinear convolutions for the electric polarization and can take into account such quantum effects as Kerr and Raman interactions. The present approach is robust and should permit the modeling of twoand three-dimensional optical soliton propagation, scattering, and switching from the full-vector Maxwell's equations.

General vector auxiliary differential equation finite-difference time-domain method for nonlinear optics.

The auxiliary differential equation finite-difference time-domain method for modeling electromagnetic wave propagation in dispersive nonlinear materials is applied to problems where the electric field is not constrained to a single vector component. A full-vector Maxwell's equations solution incorporating multiple-pole linear Lorentz, nonlinear Kerr, and nonlinear Raman polarizations is present...

The study of propagation of a femtosecond laser pulse in the breast tissue

In this paper, the evaluation of time profile of a femtosecond pulse laser propagated through biological tissues is studied. The majority of the biological tissues with a high scattering anisotropy must be considered as turbid media, that their optical responses are complicated. To study the propagation of ultra-short pulse in turbid media, the diffuse equation is used. In this study, the analy...

Exact solution of Maxwell's equations for optical interactions with a macroscopic random medium.

We report what we believe to be the first rigorous numerical solution of the two-dimensional Maxwell equations for optical propagation within, and scattering by, a random medium of macroscopic dimensions. Our solution is based on the pseudospectral time-domain technique, which provides essentially exact results for electromagnetic field spatial modes sampled at the Nyquist rate or better. The r...

2 00 4 The role of electromagnetic traped modes in extraordinary transmition in nanostructured materials

We assert that the physics underlying the extraordinary light transmition (reflection) in nanostructured materials can be understood from rather general principles based on the formal scattering theory developed in quantum mechanics. The Maxwell's equations in passive (dispersive and absorptive) linear media are written in the form of the Schrödinger equation to which the quantum mechanical res...
